“Zanarkand Sundown” Video, from Final Fantasy X

My take on “To Zanarkand” from Final Fantasy X, composed by Nobuo Uematsu. There are a lot of great covers of this song out there already, so I wanted to do something a little more... my style :]

Reharmonized and spliced the original melody up quite a bit here, plus minor improv and a brief meter change - hope you enjoy! And apologies, but there is no actual video for this piece. To copy and paste what I told someone: it takes me months to practice for a video, yet only hours to come up with an arrangement... I figure if I sacrifice the videos now and then, I can cover more songs!

  1. It took some time to recognize the theme. It sounds really something else, very original, it's very beautiful. How long did it take you to come up with this arrangement? Did it evolve while playing it for a longer period or is it just something you started recently, like this month? It seems really advanced to me.

By the way, we might be a bit in tune, I do practice To Zanarkand for quite a few months now on the guitar and I guess your Besaid Island video inspired me to do so. Much joy here! I wish you the same.

  2. Very beautiful arrangement and performance, is subjective in a way... reminds me of Andrea Ferrante's work.

  3. Agreed with Makar, it's quite different to the original.

And don't worry, I at least don't need any videos if it's a problem for you to record them. It's your music what gets in my Phone after all xD

  4. That is amazing. I showed my friend (a die-hard FF fan) and he thought the same too.
And I don't mind it without a video either!

  8. Hey Aivi! I love your music! Um I was wondering if you were ever going to put the sheet music out for " To Zanarkand?"

  10. Beautiful!!! I loved it, and I think that not putting a video up once in a while is a good idea, that way you can get more music up there!
I was just wondering, what is your normal routine in arranging a piece, making a video, and then posting it? Because lately the videos have come up, but there hasn't been any sheet music like before!
And one more question, do you think Melty Molten Galaxy or Gusty Garden Galaxy will be coming out soon?
I know you're busy, but I'm sure whenever you're ready to post them they're going to sound great!
Thanks again for posting another amazing piece! :)

  15. Sad Aivi's not on Blogger anymore... :( Been looking forward to new posts before she posted her goodbye.

The good news is that Aivi created a NEW blog! (I think she stopped updating the blog that replaced this one). If any of you want to find her, she's at http://waltzforluma.tumblr.com!
