“Boss Battle Piano Medley” Sheet Music and Video

Format: PDF
Difficulty: Advanced
Info: A monster medley of boss battles that I arranged last year, as a present for a friend. These pieces are included in the medley, however extensive or brief (click on them to hear the originals):
If you decide to perform this, please credit me for the arrangement. (It’d also be nice if you’d let me know where I can see you play it, though it’s not necessary.) Thanks!

  5. Amazing!! Each theme flowed into each other so flawlessly. This should be its own battle theme in a videogame!!

  6. Terrific! Amazing job! I have a question though. I looked at other songs from Final Fantasy 7 and listened to this one song "Those Who Fight". It sounded a lot like Tatakau Mono Tachi. Where you play on the F# when you started, the other songs I've listened to, specifically Kyle Landry from the response link, played on a normal F. Why is that? Just a little question. Doesn't need to be answered if you don't want to. I'm learning to play this medley and I got as far as to after tatakau mono tachi. Again wonderful job. Hope to see you play again soon.

  7. To Anonymous - You're right, "Tatakau Mono Tachi" is simply the Japanese name for "Those Who Fight" - at the time when I arranged the medley, I only knew the Japanese title and didn't think to translate it.

    Also, that's observant of you to notice the slight pitch shift! I actually played most of the tunes in this medley in different keys than their originals. I chose to change them so that I could easily modulate or transition into them - in other words, so they'd "flow" better. If you'll notice, at the very end, I play "Those Who Fight" in E (instead of the normal F or even the F# that I started on, too!) It was tough to cram that many songs into the same medley without making some compromises, so adjusting them into related keys was the only way I could make the whole thing work the way I wanted it to. Hope that answers your question!

  8. Thanks for the brief explanation. That cleared a lot of questions. Yes I saw that it turned to E as well at the end.(I kinda skipped the middle songs and learned the end cause I liked Tatakau Mono Tachi the most.) But I thought that the end was just supposed to be like that. Haha. Well thanks again for answering my question. Oh I almost forgot! I wanted to know how long you've been playing piano. I wish to be as good as you. I'm 13 and can play quite well.(At least thats what people say.) Sorry if I'm being a burden by asking you these questions.

  9. It's no problem at all! I'm happy to see that someone else takes such a strong interest in game music. Age 13 and playing Tatakau Mono Tachi? No doubt you play extremely well. :)

    I started playing the piano when I was 5 and am now in my 20's... so I've been playing for quite awhile, though I'll admit I'm not as skilled as many other people who have been playing for as long as I have.

    Also - if you're looking for the complete piano score for Tatakau Mono Tachi, try looking around FFDream.com. It's where I downloaded my sheets for my FFX performances.

  10. Hello, what a great piece of music you combined! Although, I have a question. Do you use the pedal at all while playing this? When I do it, the music sounds a bit...dirty? I can't really tell on your video, sorry. ;;

  11. This music is very nicely cordinated. I'm looking at the comments and noticed that the latest one notes all the way back to December 12, which means this comment will have been a while since then. But anyways, to get back on topic, this performance was a wonderful medly! Have you ever thought of doing a Kindgom Hearts Medly? Some of the songs sound familiar to that to me I guess. Since Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts are made by the same company. Netherless, I hope you're still continuing to aspire everyone on the site till even now~ <3

  12. My favorite video game is Final Fantasy IV because The game's story follows Cecil, a dark knight, as he tries to prevent the sorcerer Golbez from seizing powerful crystals and destroying the world.
    I think that the video in the post is so interesting!22dd
